Atlantic Marine Generating Sets

The Perkins Engine Company was founded in Peterborough, UK, in 1932 by Frank Perkins and Charles Chapman who had the vision of transforming the then heavy industrial diesel engine into a low weight, higher speed model that could rival the petrol engine. Their links, most notably Caterpillar’s acquisition of Perkins in December 1997, have helped the company develop its engine range with unrivalled technical expertise and global reach. Manufacturing facilities now operate in several countries with the capacity to produce some 800,000 units a year in the 4-2000 kW bracket.

Moteurs Baudouin have produced engines in France since 1918 serving both the marine and industrial markets. Their products have been well accepted for marine use from the start and are distinguished by their genuine marine design offering quality, adaptability and reliability. The production facility in Cassis, France has Bureau Veritas ISO 9001 certification and their marine products have type approvals from most major marine classifications societies. Motors Baudouin have a global presence in over 70 countries worldwide. They have developed advanced emissions technology and can offer IMO III and EPA IV on some of their larger models.

The Cummins Engine Company was founded it the USA nearly 100 years ago (Cummins was founded in Indiana in 1919). Today it is represented worldwide with manufacturing plants in some 12 countries and worldwide distribution. It is a multinational organization with massive investment in research and engineering. Their range includes marine engines for propulsion and power generation with many models produced in the UK where their HQ is situated at Daventry. Production plants have quality certification and most marine engine models comply with IMO Tier II, EPA Tier 3 and EU Stage IIIa emissions regulations (as applicable) and are designed to meet the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) and SOLAS requirements.

Scania was born in 1969 out of Scania-Vabis which was founded as Vabis in 1891 in Sweden. They produced their first engine in 1905 and later became established as a major supplier of trucks and busses for which they developed their own engine ranges. Today their marine versions are produced in a state of the art factory to the highest standards of quality control (ISO 9001) and can be fully compliant with the latest emission requirements (IMO III) and fully certified to most of the major classification societies. Scania engines have proved to be reliable and fuel efficient with smooth running in the most arduous worldwide marine applications.
